OneWest Announces Major West End Redevelopment Initiative

OneWest held a press conference on May 13, 2026, unveiling an ambitious community-centered redevelopment initiative for Louisville’s West End. The announcement included plans for “West Loop” — a development featuring sit-down restaurants, healthcare clinics, and affordable housing, representing a nearly $70 million investment for the area.

The initiative is part of OneWest’s small developer program, where properties are owned by multigenerational West End developers. OneWest President Evon Smith noted that the West End has more than 5,000 vacant and abandoned properties, underscoring both the scale of the challenge and the opportunity for transformative change.

In addition to West Loop, developers also announced plans for a West Louisville Sports and Entertainment Complex, described as a beacon of hope for the community. Altogether, OneWest said the various projects amount to more than $200 million in planned investment.

The projects are currently in the rezoning, development, and master planning stages. OneWest said the timeline will depend on investor funding, and the nonprofit is hoping equity partners will step in as developers prepare to move forward.
