PROJECTS
In October 2022, OneWest revealed the renovated structures located at 516 A&B South 18th Street. These spaces are used as an accelerator program for chefs that complete the Chef Space incubator. This 1670 sq ft space will seat 49 customers and will provide chefs their very first retail location. OneWest and its partners are also providing tenants resources in support of marketing, operations, reporting, and business development. Additionally, this space is providing more food choices for West End residents.

The project was one part of a community-led design process conducted together with Urban Design Associates. The project was completed in May, and will soon house a well-needed neighborhood coffee shop.
1731 W Broadway is part of the Royal Theater property, but requires some further renovations which will likely be conducted separately from the main property. This building has been redesigned to be two units of housing on the second level and two commercial bays available for lease on the ground floor.
This 2,360 sq. ft. building has been fully transformed from a long-neglected site into a vibrant mixed-use space. After an extensive architectural assessment, design work, and redevelopment planning, construction began in June 2023, supported by a powerful combination of federal, city, and philanthropic resources.
Today, the property stands as a testament to preservation and progress—highlighting its historic character while serving modern community needs with affordable residential units and commercial space in the heart of the West End.
OneWest purchased this building as a wealth-creation model that OneWest would like to continue to perpetuate. It affords an existing business a development partner with which to help them expand and grow. OneWest acquired the space and is currently renting it back, setting aside part of the rent for the eventual upfit of the interior to expand to a full-service bakery and a sit-down restaurant at 1800 West Muhammad Ali Boulevard. This effort continues the positive response to the community’s request for more food options and eat-in restaurants. The project features art and an outside patio that was developed by the city.
This site is being improved with six contiguous one, two and three story buildings – and two detached. The eight buildings are home to a convenience store, restaurant, daycare center, dentist, nail salon, one barbershop, a clothing store and a pawn shop. Rental rates remain low due to donor support.
